After walking, climbing, walking, and waking up early to walk again, we made it to Machu Picchu: the Royal Retreat of the Incan Empire, destroyed by its own people in an effort to leave nothing behind for Pizarro and his pillaging Spaniards in their search for gold. Miraculously, Pizarro never found it. He never saw the beauty of this place.

Alltså, jag hade lovat mig själv att inte "reblogga" så mycket utan skriva eget istället. Men det här är ju helt otroligt, jag har ju sagt att jag vill åka till Peru och jag lyckas hitta bilder från Machu Picchu precis överallt, på alla möjliga och omöjliga ställen. Nu gick jag in på Wordpress och hittade detta bland "toppinläggen". Det är nog dags att inse att det här stället helt enkelt ropar på mig! Börja spara pengar är vad som gäller, med andra ord!

Alarm clock set at 5.30 AM: off to Cusco! After a one hour flight we arrived early in the morning at our first stop in the Andes. Completely different from Lima at first sight, as expected, but it would surprise us even more! After we checked in at our, ahum, dodgy-vanilla-smelly-30$-a-night-hostel, we were ready to discover this amazing city. We headed towards the main Mercado Central, but we ended up in the ‘non-tourist’ zone.

Ett blogginlägg om ett ställe som ”förföljer” mig, jag hittar bilder av det överallt. Känns som om det är meningen att jag ska besöka det en dag, men troligen kommer det inte att hända. Jag kan i alla fall njuta av bilderna.

This post is long overdue. Things have been pretty rough at work lately, so I haven’t had much time to update.
